Postcard from Isaac Griffith addressed to Master George Griffith

"Am still in Drayton yet. The girls and I are going over to Arthur to Mary's. Have hired a livery. It is rainy weather again. We were to Palmerston Thursday. Went on the train. Saw Susie and her mother and father. Sam Rathwell is going to take Sara and I to Susie's next week. We are thinking of starting home on the 18th. Will send more if we change our mind. Was at Drayton (Shame?) it was very good. I am getting fat - weigh 132 lbs. Am getting my teeth fixed. Have got the dentists name. It is one o'clock. AM going to (Mart?) Arthur about 5. Bye. Bye. EJG got training card on Wednesday."

Individual Note:
George married Margaret Salmond (born December 28, 1857 in Bathgate, Scotland, daughter of George Salmond and Isabella Gold). They had eight children.

George went to Manitoba with his brothers, James and David, in the late 1880's but the land was not what they had anticipated, nor were they the best farmers who ever tilled the soil. George tried farming in Manitoba in three different locations, before opening a hotel and livery in Findlater, Sask.

George died January 21, 1921 and is buried in Findlater, as is his wife, who died April 20, 1943.
